Can a cultivator be used for sowing catch crops?

Many different methods and types of agricultural machinery are used to effectively restore barren soil after harvest. The cultivator is one of such tools, thanks to which we can easily take care of the quality of our future crops. So check how the cultivators contribute to the sowing of catch crops to create valuable green fertilizer before the right crop.

What is aftercrop sowing?

Sowing catch crops is nothing more than digging up the soil after harvesting and planting specific plants that make up a natural green fertilizer that helps prevent the development of diseases and pests. Catch crops are defined as crops grown between the two main crops. Thanks to them, the quality of the soil is improved by strengthening it with many valuable and missing ingredients. On the other hand, the earlier plowing of the field causes the organic substances to return to the soil, thus preventing the loss of moisture, sterilization, weeds and, above all, improves the soil structure. For this reason, it is so important to perform this procedure efficiently with the use of agricultural machines, because with their help you can significantly accelerate and increase the efficiency of crops.

A cultivator as a machine for sowing catch crops

In order to create the right soil conditions for arable crops, agricultural machinery such as disc, cultivating and sowing aggregates or stubble cultivators are needed. Using them, you can more efficiently dig, level, loosen the soil and crush clods. This allows you to properly prepare the seedbed to be able to enjoy fast growth and high yield.

Of course, each of the above-mentioned aggregates differs in an individual approach to cultivation procedures, therefore, depending on what effects we want to achieve, its model must be selected. When it comes to disc cultivators, they are ideal for crushing lumps and mixing crop residues with soil. On the other hand, the cultivation and sowing models with a hydropack attached are intended for comprehensive soil preparation and sowing. On the other hand, stubble cultivators are great for post-harvest cultivation of any type of soil, and above all for its loosening.

Other useful agricultural machinery

The seeder is an extremely useful agricultural tool for sowing catch crops. It is he who ensures even distribution of seeds of selected crops in the field. Contrary to appearances, it is a small machine, consisting of a larger hopper for seeds and a disc for spreading material. The seeder's motor sets the discs in motion, thanks to which it spreads the right amount of seeds on the defined soil surface. The seeder can spread seeds at a distance from the machine up to several meters.

An important advantage of seed drills is the fact that they can closely cooperate with other agricultural machines, such as cultivation and stubble cultivators. You can easily attach the seeder to the selected unit, so that you can dig through and sow the right seed during one working pass in the field. The combination of the seeder and the agricultural unit enables high-quality agrotechnical treatments, including sowing aftercrops.
