Which aggregate to choose for cultivation - disc or tine?

The disc and tine aggregate are two popular agricultural machines that differ in the sections of the blades arranged on their axes. Both aggregates are equally often used by farmers for soil cultivation, but their method of performing the procedure is slightly different. Therefore, it is worth considering the choice of a tilling set depending on your individual needs. For this reason, check in our article for what purposes the disc cultivator is intended, and for which with the tooth section.

Characteristics and purpose of the tooth aggregate

Tilling sets consisting of two rows of vibrating, sharp teeth are perfect for pre-sowing cultivation. They can cooperate with seed drills, thanks to which, during the cultivation of soil after plowing, sowing can be performed at the same time, which in turn reduces the number of machine passes and the loss of water from the surface.

The tines are particularly good at light and sandy soil, but not necessarily heavier ones. When tilling the soil with a large residue of crop residues, it happens that they stick to the teeth, which results in clogging of the tilling set. In such situations, the aggregate with discs will cope better.

Another important feature of the tooth aggregate is its size. The toothed unit is much shorter and lighter than the disc unit. As a result, you do not have to worry about the power of your two-wheeled machine (tractor or tractor), as it does not make high demands.

What to use a disc cultivator for?

Although the tilling set with rows of independently working discs is a more universal solution for agricultural operations, its total weight is much greater than that of the tine unit. For this reason, it has a higher power requirement. This means that weaker tractors and tractors will not be able to work with all models of disc cultivators. Therefore, you need to carefully select the disc cultivator for your farm.

The disc cultivator presses the ground harder and is distinguished by a higher resistance to overload during the cultivation of heavy soil in which it has to deal with stones and thick clods of soil. In addition, the machine is equipped with a cultivating roller, which levels the surface and is responsible for the specific positioning of the discs to work at a given depth of ground to which the discs reach.

The main task of the disc cultivator is cultivation of the soil and loosening the soil after plowing. The disc cultivator is perfectly capable of handling more tillage operations and all the conditions on the farm, regardless of light or heavy soil.

Decide between a deck with a disc section and a tine section

To sum up, agricultural units can be equipped with disc or tine sections. Both types of aggregates allow you to save a lot of time in the field, but not every blade will cope with the cultivation of heavier soil. Therefore, we recommend choosing a disc cultivator for people who deal with sandy, stony or clay soil, as well as with a large amount of crop residues. Despite these unfavorable conditions, the toothed disc sections comprehensively loosen the soil and crush the clods of soil.

When it comes to farms with a predominance of light soils, aggregates with tine sections will be ideal, because they are a lighter model of an agricultural machine that will not have any problems with preparing the soil for sowing. In addition, they allow you to save the amount of fuel in a two-wheeled machine.
